Halloween means "All Hallow's eve", the word comes from Old English, and that means "Eve of All Saints", and referred to the night of October 31, the eve of the Feast of All Saints. However, the old Anglo-Saxon habit has stolen her strict religious sense to hold in place the night of horror, of witches and ghosts. Halloween marks a sad return to the old paganism, a trend that has spread also among the Hispanic peoples.

The celebration of Halloween began with the Celts, old habitants of Eastern Europe, West and part of Asia Minor. Among them lived the Druids, priests pagan worshipers of trees, especially oak. They believed in the immortality of the soul, which they said was introduced into another individual to leave the body, but on October 31 he returned to his old home to seek food for their inhabitants, who were obliged to make provision for it.

Some Irish immigrants introduced Halloween in the United States where he became part of popular folklore. Were added many pagan elements taken from different groups of immigrants to eventually include the belief in witches, ghosts, goblins, Dracula and monsters of every kind. From there, it has spread worldwide.

The pumpkin was added later and has its origins in the Scandinavian countries and then returned to Europe and the rest of America thanks to the cultural colonization of their  communications media and movies.

At Halloween , legend says that it is easy to see witches and ghosts. Children dress up and go with a candle inserted into a hollowed out pumpkin in which incisions are made to form a skull from house to house. When you open the door shouting "trick or treat" to indicate a joke who do not give them a kind of tip in sweets or money.
An old Irish legend tells that the pumpkin's face would be lit JackO'Lantern, in the eve of All Saints, invited the devil to drink at home, pretending to be a good Christian. Since he was vicious man, ended up in hell.
Halloween today is a big business. Masks, costumes ,candy, makeup and other requirements are an engine more than enough for some employers to promote the "use of terror. " It also seeks to encourage imitation of American customs,
